The belief that breastfed babies won't get enough milk is a common myth due to misunderstandings about breastfeeding practices and infant growth patterns. Many new parents may worry about whether their baby is receiving sufficient nourishment, often because they can't see how much milk the baby is drinking. However, research shows that most breastfeeding mothers are capable of producing an adequate supply of milk to meet their baby’s needs, provided that the breastfeeding is well-established and the baby is nursing effectively. It is important to educate parents on observing signs of adequate milk intake, such as the number of wet diapers, the baby's weight gain, and the baby's overall behavior and satisfaction after feedings. By understanding these indicators, parents can be reassured that their breastfed baby is getting enough milk, thus dispelling this myth.
